392 sq.ft. packed to the ceiling with hats..hats..hats. That’s our little store. Fair prices… nothing goofy. You won’t find an Eiffel Tower hat or Viking horns with hair…. You will find practical hats for everyday wear or special occasions.
Our standards are high. Frugal by nature, we tend to carry only product that is worth its weight. Often hearing, “WOW! You have great prices!” we delight in passing on our good deals. We buy 20 dozen of a style to get a better price… and we design many of the hats ourselves.
We are a husband and wife shop… have been working together everyday since we met 26 years ago. Some couples couldn’t do it…but we couldn’t do it any other way. Really.
Our business is a reflection of our lives…socked full with a “Let the day unfold” attitude. One never knows who will come each day and our lives have entwined with people from all over the world. A standing joke in the shop is that “We give free advice with every hat sold”…and boy have we! A couple wed because we thought they were right for each other. Teenagers come back as adults and remind us of the day we told them to be grateful. Broken spirits listened to and sent on their way with a smile…marriage proposals…crying women finding a hat for a funeral…the fear of removing a hat to expose a bald head fro chemo, removed with loving words and prayers. Sunburned drunk guys, wild teens, cancer, aging, red hat ladies, reunions, all get to hear our take on the world as we exchange products for monies. We have been invited to so many homes all over the world and have laughed with the best of them.
“Listen to the song of life” is always in our heads and it allows us to speak with people how are without English, who are grumpy, arrogant, over the top friendly and all the way unhappy. Our purpose is to help. Firstly find the right hat for the particular face and secondly make certain that any other needs they have are met.
Cancer has become a real problem and we are mindful when purchasing high UV Protection and wider brims. We’ve seen a change in the last 12 years in the way people have become educated to the damage caused by sun exposure. So many baby boomers getting bits of their face cut off by dermatologists.
